Training the Brain to See Again

By tapping the power of "neuroplasticity," doctors offer new hope to stroke patients. About 10 to 15 percent of stroke victims lose some or all of their vision, but now doctors are training healthy neurons to perform the function of those damaged or destroyed by the stroke. The company that commercialized the therapy makes it available at seven clinics, including the Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit .
